2010!
Written by Mike Washburn

2009 was an exciting year for me both personally and professionally and as a gamer.  The Remnant morphed from simple Aion legion into a multi game community and into a network of sites, almost overnight.  This flurry of activity in the latter half of the year added to me leaving my full time position and returning to university full time almost cost me my sanity.  Not to mention - as a gamer - if the rise (and eventual fall) of NCSoft's hype machine Aion wasn't enough we saw the release of Fallen Earth and the announcement of so many mind blowing IP's and titles it makes your head spin to think of it some times.  Needless to say 2010 is going to be awesome, for both Remnant Gaming and gamers in general - after the break you can read what I am looking forward to this year!

Meet the Remnant Gaming Community!
Written by Mike Washburn
Sunday, 13 December 2009 19:32

The Remnant Gaming Communuity is a multi-game online community which puts a heavy emphisis on the social aspects of online gaming.  Supporting Aion Onine, World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online, Age of Conan, EVE and Guild Wars, Remnant Gaming has a presence in 6 of the most popular MMO's on the planet via its "The Remnant" divisions.  With more Remnant Gaming divisions planned(The Secret World, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Final Fantasy XIV and Guild Wars II to name a few) Remnant Gaming has something for every playstyle,  every commitment level, everyone...

Remnant Gaming is an organic community.  We allow our members to shape and direct the nature of the divisions in which they play.  If the members wish to be PvP focused, they do that, if they wish to attempt to be a top guild in terms of end game content, they are more than welcome to do that as well.  We want every type of player to feel welcome in Remnant Gaming.  A majority of our members have families, and jobs , and commitments outside of the gaming world they play in.  Remnant Gaming understands that while you DO have a lot of real life stuff going on, the last thing you want is to be stressed in game as well.  We have NO time commitments unless you choose them yourself, we have no requirements beyond keeping to the Charter of Remnant Gaming and enjoying each others time, company and abilities.  Every division though, does operate as an autonomous unit and can self impose various requirements for its division members based on the overall goals of the division.

Remnant Gaming is built BY its players FOR it's players.  You can be whatever you want to be and do it however you want to do it. Treat your online friends with respect, take pride in your game and be the best you can be at all things - thats what we want for you here.  We also operate in a self policing type atmosphere, the Remnant Gaming forums are NOT your typical guild forums and are used to build up the community and have fun.  We have a system to voice concerns and issues, without sullying the sanctity of the community forums.  Our website is built and grown with the community in mind.  We want this website to be your online home.

If you are looking for a fun, friendly and most importantly a long term home for your video game adventures, the Remnant Gaming Community is for you!  Please visit this thread http://www.remnantgaming.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3857 and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact a leader, you can recognize them by the Red, Green, Orange or Purple colour of their names on the forums!

Morality in Gaming. Do you venture to the DARK SIDE? Or do you always play it safe?
Written by Brian Edey
Thursday, 05 November 2009 14:07

Over the last decade we have seen more and more role playing games and massive multiplayer online games give the gamer a choice, usually a moral choice which has long reaching and possibly disastrous consequences. In Mass Effect we could be a complete bastard and pull our weapon threatening everyone from officers in the fleet to surly alien bartenders and in Everquest we were given a choice between siding with the Frost Giants of their massive city of Kael Drakkal or the Dragons and the Claws of Veeshan in their majestic city of Skyshrine.

Downloadable Content - It is here to stay. But is that a good thing?
Written by Brian Edey

I will start off today’s editorial by stating the obvious if you know me or have seen my Xbox 360 Avatar. I do not mind buying any downloadable content for games that I enjoy. I own all the downloadable content for Fallout 3, thought that was given to me for reviews but I would have purchased them anyways. I own all of the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion content, Fable 2, Rainbow 6 Vegas, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect and many more games downloadable content and I do not regret any of it because they have expanded my enjoyment of the experience many times over and on the Xbox 360 the extra achievements are always nice.

Mature Rated Games – Why do we not have more of these rare treats?
Written by Brian Edey
Tuesday, 03 November 2009 12:07

Over the last couple of weeks a series of conversations have taken place regarding of all things the lack of mature rated Role Playing Games (RPG’s) and Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing games (MMORPG’s) and why we do not have more of these. The only notable mature rated MMORPG is Age of Conan, based on the novels and not the movies, and it takes the player through a blood filled action game with mature themes and some topless nudity. Now the nudity is of course the biggest negative for many people when they think of video games and remember the hoopla Fox News caused when they reported that the game Mass Effect by BioWare was full of hardcore sex and that did not end well for Fox and the people who went on other networks reporting such false hoods.

Editorial: State of The "Guild"
Written by Mike Washburn
Thursday, 29 October 2009 10:07

I am concerned.  On a much more serious scale I am concerned about H1N1, Iran and another Conservative government in Canada (not on equal levels – I’m pretty sure Mr. Harper isn’t into nuclear genocide)  But in my own little world at my desk, I am more and more pre-occupied by the state of the “guild”
